Language Interpretation
Language interpretation is the process of managing the oral or voice communication or conversation from one language into one or more output languages. The interpretation could be done simultaneously (in real-time) or consecutively (having the presenter pause at intervals to allow for interpretation over the same meeting) – and could be either an exact interpretation or an approximate interpretation of the original content. The terms “interpretation” and “translation” are sometimes used interchangeably even though they actually have different meanings. Interpretation typically refers to spoken language while translation refers to written text.
Benefits of Language Interpretation
For organizations that provide services to multilingual clients or patients this creates a big communication challenge since the language spoken at meetings and events is often not the preferred language of the client or patient. Therefore, it will lower productivity, lack of inclusion, and reduced transparency. Offering language interpretation at meetings and events enables both speakers and participants to participate in their preferred languages which increases engagement, learning, and, transparency participation.
